Eco Print Workshop with Leonie Connellan

Artist Leonie Connellan will facilitate this creative event with Laois Arts Office for Cruinniú na nÓg on Sat 7th June (10:00 – 12:00).

Participants in the workshop take juice and milk cartons that can be difficult to recycle and, in a short space of time, turn them into plates that can be printed from to make beautiful, inventive artworks.

Leonie Connellan is a print-based artist living in Portarlington, Laois. Leonie grew up in Australia and completed her Master of Fine Art at RMIT University in 2011. Since moving to Laois, Leonie has created a number of public artworks in the area and works closely with the Port Art Collective.  She is also a member of the Black Church Print Studio in Dublin, and has recently started making a series of new lithographs and etchings about music. As well as making visual art, Leonie writes songs and records music under the band name Hot Pink Halo. Visit Leonie’s website to learn more.

Cruinniú na nÓg is a day of free creativity for children and young people.  Ireland is the first, and only, country in the world to have a national day of free creativity for children and young people under 18. Cruinniú na nÓg is a flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme’s Creative Youth Plan to enable the creative potential of children and young people. Laois Arts, Laois Co. Council and Creative Ireland Laois under the auspices of Laois Library Service, and other venue partners host free creative events and activities for children and young people throughout the county each June.
